Dresden

October 25, 2009 · 1 Comment

I guess this is a sort of excuse post, but maybe we’ll put a positive spin on it and say this is a personal post? I’ve been visiting contributer Philip in the wonderful city of Dresden, where we watched I Heart Sharks (their enthusiastic drummer is pictured above) and did numerous other non-music related things. I’ve been waiting to post a review of their gig and The XX (who I caught a week ago), but if you haven’t noticed yet, dropbox cut me off there service. They have been my best hosting provider so far, with 8 months of fantastic service and so I highly recommend them. As with last time this happened, if anyone has any suggestions for other services with which to share my music, just leave a comment, email me, message me on twitter or get in contact with the numerous ways that you can in this day and age.

I leave you with a beautiful track from Four Tet, called As Serious As Your Life, which is from Rounds, the only album I’ve found the time to listen to over the last week.

Happy Birthday Forward Music!

June 2, 2009 · 3 Comments

Writing on this blog and sharing music I love has been great fun. I’m not stopping any time soon, and I hope I never will. There will always be new music to be shared with the world, and sometimes some old stuff as well. It’s been interesting, but I can’t help remember the absences. I will be posting more frequently from now on. Especially over the summer, unless I haven’t got access to the internet.

It started off slow, with about 20 views a day and I currently receive about 200 a day and so I want to thank you the reader, you make it worth while. Feedback, as always is appreciated. What do you like? What don’t you like? I would also like to thank Aχєlєу, Avant-Noise, the indie dancefloor, Music Induced Euphoria, Pretentious Indie Boys and Real Horrorshow Tunes for all linking to my blog. Thanks to all the artists who contacted me, like Keegan, Lightspeed Champion, Emmy the Great, Kafkas Orient Bazaar, Detox Retox and Noah and the Whale. And of course, thanks to Stalin for the kind words.

Instead of using a cheesy track, I actually have a good track about birthdays. It’s one my favourites from Lightspeed Champion. It’s something I’ve already posted, but what else was i going to use; Ting Tings, The Enemy or Altered Images? I think not.

Life

It happens.

So this post is a catchup and includes questions for you, the reader. Firstly, hosting is an issue for someone who doesn’t want to spend too much money and not get their stuff removed. If anyone could recommend me a good service which either has direct link mp3s (preferable) or works with Hype Machine and has a great bandwidth amount, please leave a comment. Dropbox died on me, and I am not sure how much I can trust those guys, however props for such a good service and giving me all that great bandwidth.

Next is the absence of posts. I feel I don’t write enough and I get bogged down in huge (or large) posts. I think I might start writing a post per day, with only a paragraph of text. Is that okay with you?

I’ve been finishing up my personal project, which I will post up this week, so don’t expect another post until then.

Finally, here is what I’ve been listening to.

むこう岸が視る夢 – toe
I borrowed this from contributor Philip, because their stuff is impossible to get here. Everything I expected. Sweeping, epic and beautiful. Just entrancing.

Official, Myspace

Here’s The Thing – Girl Talk
My favourite Girl Talk track, every bit is amazing except for the annoying part with Kelly Clarkson. Exceptional intro and outro, both force you to sing along with it’s intoxicating lyrics.

Myspace, Buy

Us V Them- LCD Soundystem
I’ve been rediscovering LCD Soundsystem’s amazing second album and it is still one of my favourite records of all time. All the songs have instant move your body beats and the lyrics, especially for a dance record, are superb.

We Did It!

January 22, 2009 · 4 Comments

It’s a small milestone for me, I got 4th and 13th most listened to tracks on Hype Machine, with the Girl Talk and MGMT songs. And 6th and 13th most hearted, for them too. And I got 600 views yesterday! Looks like the new blog is taking off quite well.

Really this is just an excuse to share two remixes I have been enjoying recently.

Be Good (RAC Remix) / Tokyo Police Club

Final (Metallica) / Justice

Changes

January 12, 2009 · 6 Comments

Welcome to Indie Boy version 7.183.23 (also known as Forward Music). You might be wondering “Why?” and this post answers that question. I have no idea why I decided on “Indie Boy” at first, it is neither really cool or interesting. It is also has a lot of negative connotations for someone being a part of a “scene”, which i do not really want to associate myself with or show that I am part of it. I just want to write about really good music.

The second reason, perhaps more interesting, is the new site design. For my Personal Project, something required from my school, I decided to learn the powerful tool, Photoshop. Part of my end goals was to create a design or a style for my blog. And this is the result.

If you want to my follow my progress on my Personal Project, here is where I upload my creations.

Enjoy.
